Education in the Mother Tongue is a Natural and Fundamental Right

On the occasion of Kurdish Language Day, celebrated annually on May 15th, we extend our greetings and respect to all the martyrs, fighters, dedicated individuals, and lovers of the Kurdish language and freedom who have struggled for the just cause of the Kurdish people.

In line with the official statement released by the Kurdish Language Institute (SZK) for this day, we, in the Education Sector of the Euphrates Region, affirm our full support for the statement and renew our commitment to preserving and promoting Kurdish as a living and thriving language.

As the slogan says: “The time has come to safeguard the gains of our revolution,” the Kurdish national cause is now entering a new phase. Especially in the current era of a new Syria, there is an urgent need to take more practical and effective steps to serve the Kurdish language—so it may be recognized and protected officially, just like other world languages.

To elevate these revolutionary achievements to higher academic and scientific levels, it is essential that teachers, intellectuals, students, and all those involved in Kurdish affairs take full responsibility for advancing the Kurdish language—through efforts that strengthen its presence in our cities and through diverse cultural activities that raise public linguistic awareness.

Based on these principles, we— the Committee for Organizing Educational Institutions in the Euphrates Region— have begun preparations for a series of activities celebrating Kurdish Language Day. We call on all members of our society to join us in honoring and celebrating this meaningful occasion.

Let all our days flourish through the light of the Kurdish language, and may its national identity shine in every corner of our lives.

Long live the Kurdish language, and happy Kurdish Language Day!
